Frequently asked questions
Domain name
What happens if I already own my domain name?
If you already own your domain name contact us to organize pointing or transferring the domain name to our servers or to the server on which your site will be hosted.
Can I use my domain name as my e-mail address?
Yes. Your e-mail address will be (anything@yourdomainname.co.uk).
I already have an e-mail account set-up, which I would prefer to use. Is this possible?
Yes. We can set up your e-mails (e.g. anything@yourdomainname.co.uk) to forward messages to any e-mail address of your choice.
What Server Settings should I use in my Mail Client?
The POP3 server should be set to mail.mydomain.tld. (where mydomain.tld is the domain you have registered with Quikpixel). The port to use is 110. The SMTP server should be set to the SMTP server provided by your ISP.
Why can't I use Quikpixel's SMTP Servers?
We control access to our SMTP servers by IP address ranges. This is the only effective means of ensuring we can control and trace bulk mass emailing. We do not use username and password validation as this is open to brutal cracking attacks. Access is limited to Quikpixel Dial customers (where we act as the ISP).
Mail forwarding has stopped on my Email Account.
Mail forwarding will stop on an account if the mailbox for the account is full. This only occurs if you have "keep copy on server" enabled. Each mailbox has a limit of 500 messages or 20MB of data. Once this limit is exceeded all mail will be rejected.
You can clear mail by logging into your mail at http://webmail.yourdomainname. and deleting messages.
The long term maintenance free solution is not to keep copies of mail on the server.
How long does Quikpixel keep mail on its servers?
We keep mail on our main mail servers for 90 days.
We provide POP3 servers, which are mail collection servers, not permanent mail stores. As such we do not guarantee to save or backup mail for any period.
Can I view my mail via a web browser?
Quikpixel provide a web mail service for customers with POP3 mailboxes on our system.
Access you mail at http://webmail.yourdomainname.
Please note that this system should not be used as a permanent mail store. We limit mailboxes to 500 messages and 10MB. We also remove all mail over 90 days old.
